Aria is science fiction and slice of life story created by Kozue Amano. Aria takes place in a distant future (around 400 years from now, exactly year 2400+) when humans are so advanced that they could land on Mars and live on there normally. Once was an inhabitable planet, Mars was terraformed and its name is changed into Aqua, because of its vast ocean. And in this “new” planet, human starts to colonialize it, bringing their own cultures from Earth/Manhome into Aqua.
The story itself chooses Neo Venezia, a city on Aqua that’s based on Manhome’s Venice, as its settings. While ARIA itself solely revolves around the story of young woman from Manhome, Akari Mizunashi, that come to this city to become an gondola undine. As we follow her career life, Akari also presents us her adventures and daily lifes in this new planet, Aqua. Of course too bad the story also ends after she reaches the top of her career…
